Jessica Lieberman Blue

I drink my reflection back

like an animal. Night delivers

its telegrams in thin light.

For the pleasure of silence,

practice losing. I fall

endlessly. Something inside me

falls. A forest

of yellow stars

surrounds my body. Dead

flowers surround my body.

I put my hand to my own throat,

evoking the memory of you.

Startle me

with closeness. Intimacy

of the neck elongating itself.

I pretend I am a drowned woman.

Now pretend

my long hair

is dancing under water.
