Message from the Editors

A message from the editors about recent events in America.

“Black Lives Matter. Black Voices Matter.

The Laurel Review stands with those protesting the recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and centuries of others who have been killed in the system of institutional racism. We stand against racism and prejudice in all forms systemic, implicit, and overt.

We value diverse voices and believe that the widest variety of perspectives and experiences enriches the literary world. But simply holding these values is not enough.

We are committed to doing more, and working harder to provide a literary space for writers of color in a system of oppression, and seeking out and promoting the voices of those who have been historically disenfranchised."
